ADMISSIONS OVERVIEW

Dominion’s classical and Christian approach to schooling is uniquely suited to families with high academic expectations who desire a time-tested mode of learning paired with the latest advancements in math and science.  Dominion is a school where students are known.  It is a school where students learn to love learning about God and His world.  We invite you to peruse our website to learn more about us or to use the link below to apply for admission for the 2023-2024 school year.

In response to significant enrollment growth, Dominion has acquired a new facility.  This location creates vacancies for students at both the new location (1545 Dranesville Road, K-12) and our Oakton campus (K-6) since existing Dominion families at Oakton have relocated to the new campus.

Availability remains limited, but we invite applications for the 2023-2024 school year on a rolling basis from now through August 28, 2023.

Why Choose Dominion?

Dominion offers a complete education, one that integrates the christian and the worldview.  We offer a freedom to be intellectually curious and to ask questions, to understand the why of history, for example, not simply the memorization of the facts.  Classical literature comes to life at Dominion.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Dominion unique?

Dominion blends the best of both the time-tested classical model of education and modern innovations and discoveries in math and science.  As such, we teach students to think about ideas, not just recycle information; as we emphasize great works that have shaped our Western civilization; and as we focus upon formation and virtue, Dominion strives to offer a holistic education.  Dominion also uses a chronological study of the humanities, blending together students’ study of literature, history, art, and music, and we teach classes in logic and rhetoric.

The deadline for applications has passed. Am I too late?

No, you are not too late, we are pleased to continue to receive applications on a rolling admissions basis. Please visit our application process page or contact us in the admissions office  with any further questions.

Does Dominion take students with diagnosed learning differences?

Yes, Dominion is equipped to serve many students with diagnosed learning differences.  Since there are limitations on the range of needs we can meet, it’s often best to discuss your individual child’s situation with the admissions director at the time of the tour and/or with one of our school principals at the time of an interview.

Does Dominion have sports, clubs, and activities?

Yes!  Dominion is pleased to offer a variety of co-curriculars, including both athletic (cross country, basketball, track, volleyball, flag football, soccer) and non-athletic (Science Olympiad, Chess Club, Lego Robotics Club, etc.) spaces for students to enjoy student life beyond the classroom.  These offerings are often grade-level specific, so we encourage you to request more information while you visit and tour.

What is your student-to-teacher ratio?

Schools often tout student-to-teacher ratios (number of all teachers, part- and full-time, divided by the number of students).  Because this figure factors in all part-time teachers as well as teacher’s assistants, it can often be misleading (Dominion’s ratio is approximately 7), so we prefer to give you a more realistic picture of your child’s daily experience.  Most classes will be between 12-18 students. Our classes are considered “full” at 18 students, though we may accept a nineteenth under exceptional circumstances.

What’s the minimum age for kindergarten?

A child must have reached the age of five years by September 1st of the fall in which he would be entering Kindergarten.

Do we have to be Christians for my child to be considered?

Though not required to be Christians, the parents of students in Dominion must have a clear understanding of the biblical philosophy and purpose of Dominion. This understanding includes a willingness to have their child exposed to the clear teaching (not forced indoctrination) of the school’s Statement of Faith in various and frequent ways within the school’s program.

The parents must be willing to cooperate with the written policies of Dominion. This is most important in the area of discipline (see Discipline Guidelines and Student Conduct Explanations) and school work standards, as well as active communication with the respective teacher(s) and administration.

Does Dominion have an after school program?

No, we don't. But we do offer clubs that occur after school from time to time. We will also be glad to recommend a few places that do should this be something your family needs.
