Our Administration and Faculty
coffinOur School is led by our Head of School, Janis Pierce, and staffed by exceptional teachers who are devoted to teaching DCS students in accordance with the Classical methodology we have embraced as an educational community.

Janis Pierce serves Dominion Christian School as the Head of School.  She has thirty years of teaching experience and has been Head of School for eight years.  She received her B.S. in Learning Disabilities from Winthrop College and a M. Ed. in School Administration and Elementary Supervision from The Citadel.



Lower School (K-6th
)

Carrie Rinaldi teaches Kindergarten and has seven years of teaching experience.  She attended Messiah College, where she received a B.A. in psychology.

Nancy Homm teaches first grade and has been teaching for twenty-one years.  She attended Lycoming College in Williamsport, PA where she earned her B.A.

Florence Johnson teaches second grade and has three years of teaching experience.  She attended California University of Pennsylvania where she earned a B.A. in Elementary Education.
 

Lynne Walton teaches second grade and has two years of teaching experience.  She attended Campbell University and earned a B.A. in Elementary Education.


Maria Watson
teaches third grade and is in her second year of teaching.  She attended Grove City College where she earned a B.S. in Elementary Education.


Jami Rodis
teaches fourth grade and is in her fifth year of teaching.  She attended Marymount University where she received a B.A. in English and Communication.

 

Gretchen Frerich teaches fifth grade and is currently in her first year of teaching.  She attended Saint Cloud State University (St. Cloud, MN) and received her B.S. in Elementary Education with a Communication Arts and Literature emphasis.

Dianne Whittle teaches sixth grade.  She has about thirty years of teaching experience.  She attended California State University Fullerton where she earned a B.A. in Spanish.  She also received her Masters from Dallas Theological Seminary.

Karen Pence teaches art for Kindergarten through fourth grade students.  She has twenty-five years of teaching experience.  She attended Butler University and received a B.S. and M.S. in Elementary Education with an Art K-8 Endorsement.

 

Betsey Cheshire teaches Latin at DCS and is in her seventh year at the school.  She attended UNC-Greensboro and received a B.A. in Classical Civilization with a Latin concentration and a second major in History.

 

Pam Burns teaches fifth through tenth grade music and leads the classical guitar ensemble.   She has seventeen years of teaching experience.  She attended James Madison University where she received her B.A. in Music Education.

 

Sara Jourdan teaches Kindergarten through fourth grade music and has four years of teaching experience and five years of clinical experience.  She has a Bachelors of Music in Flute Performance from New England Conservatory of Music and a Masters of Arts in Music Therapy from Lesley University.

 

Drew Hoffecker teaches PE and is in his first year of teaching.  He attended Grove City College where he earned his B.A. in Business.

 

Middle School (7th-8th)

Caren Sturgill teaches seventh grade Pre-Algebra and ninth grade Geometry.  She has twelve years of teaching experience.  She attended Wheaton College where she earned her B.A.  She received her M. Ed. from Marymount University with certifications in Math, ESL, and English.

 

Sharon Dykhoff teaches science at DCS and has a total of eighteen years of teaching experience.  She attended the University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill) and received a B.A. in Intermediate Science Education.

 

Rich Coffeen teaches seventh through tenth grade Bible and has ten years of teaching experience and twenty years of ministry experience.  He attend Franklin & Marshall College and received a B.A. in History.  He attended Trinity Evangelical Divinity School for seminary.

 

Tanya Ingham is in her tenth year of teaching and teaches seventh and eighth grade English and Logic.  She earned a B.A. in Classical Archaeology from UC Santa Barbara and an M.A. in Christian Thought: Philosophy of Religion from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.

 

Sarah Crabtree teaches seventh and eighth grade American History and leads the Discovery Program.  She has over twenty-five years of teaching experience.  She attended the University of Connecticut where she received a B.A. in K-12 Special Education and a Masters from Loyola College in Reading and Specific Learning Disabilities.

Kathy Bodycombe currently teaches fifth through eighth grade art.  She has been teaching art for eight years.  She received her B.A. in Fine Art from Cal State University, Channel Islands.

Lauren Black teaches tenth grade Humanities and is in her first year of teaching.  She attended Wheaton College and earned a B.A. in English Literature and Communication with a minor in Bible.
